Vote for me! Yes, you can.

Last week I learned that I am a finalist in the 2011 Los Angeles Organizing Awards for The Green Award for Most Eco-Friendly Organizing Service. And guess what? Voting is open to the public, and you can cast your vote here until December 24. (Just when you thought voting season was over!)

According to NAPO-LA’s (the organizer) website, “The Awards recognizes the best in the professional organizing industry. Professional organizers who set the standard for home and business productivity will be acknowledged for their accomplishments.”

On the most basic level, being an eco-friendly organizer is about knowing where and how to dispose of unwanted items in the safest and, well, most eco-friendly ways, and about creatively reusing things. On another level, it is about leading by example which is something I strive to do each and every day. But beyond these, and at the core of my values, it is about being an engaged and informed citizen. It is about regularly participating in dialogues about the growing plethora of choices before us. It is about being curious and seeking answers. The more I learn, the more I can share. It is this process that enables me to guide and advise clients and those who inquire about key considerations for making conscious decisions about consumables, behaviors, and choices.

Residing and working in San Francisco, the city that just this year exceeded its own mandate to divert 75% of waste from landfill, I maintain a commitment to staying on the path of sustainability in all aspects of my professional pursuits and personal endeavors.  As a certified San Francisco Green Business and a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), what an honor it is to represent both my community and profession in this way.
