From April 17-20, over 600 organizers from around the world will be gathering to share ideas, insight, and beignet or two as we experience and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the National Association of Professional Organizers‘ Annual Conference.

I’ll be sharing the stage as a co-presenter for the panel discussion, “Stepping into Environmentally Conscious Organizing,” with my esteemed colleagues, Megan Spears of Disorder2Order (Oregon) and Eileen Koff of To The Next Level (NY). We’ll be covering topics that range from trends that make ECO a viable business model to how to incorporate eco-conscious choices into life and work. We’ll discuss how to be pro-active in transforming the consumption behaviors, disposal patterns, and habits of our clients and ourselves, and along the way encouraging organizers at all levels to increase their ECO-literacy and to acquire new resources for their toolboxes.

Organizers routinely help their clients cultivate new practices to support the transformations they wish to make. Making change is a process, and one that is best understood and imparted when the facilitator has gone through a related/similar experience. Using sustainability and sustainable practices as the change-making platform, we will explore strategies toward making habit change a reality. Participants will leave this workshop armed with steps and a plan for creating truly eco-friendly changes within their own lives, while gaining first-hand experience of the process of change itself.
